Ever heard the saying, “You are what you eat”? Eating natural foods can lead to a healthier and happier you. It doesn’t have to be expensive or time consuming to eat right. Here are a few tips to get you started:
1) Avoid the center of the grocery store
Next time you go grocery shopping, try to shop the perimeter of the store and stay away from the aisles in the middle. Often the freshest, most natural products, such as produce and fresh meat, are along the outside of the store. Doing so will prevent you from selecting frozen or processed options with less nutritional value.
2) Eat “picked” foods
If it can be picked out of the ground or from a tree, it will have health benefits for you. A few easy examples are bananas, apples, or potatoes. By choosing at least one fresh item each day, instead of all prepackaged items, you’ll be on the path to a healthier/happier you.
3) Pack your lunch
If you’re forced to plan your meal ahead of time, you can scrutinize your choices. If you are eating out, you’re at the mercy of the fast-food chain and the ingredients they use. With this option you’ll be saving money too!
4) Use Baby Logic
Ask yourself if it’s something you could puree and feed to a baby. If not – it’s probably not the healthiest choice.
For what it’s worth, try implementing one or more of these suggestions and see how you feel. Chances are you will feel better and be happier by fueling your body with the kinds of foods it was meant to have.
