No matter who you are, you can provide value. We each have an individual purpose. Always believe in YOU. – Brooke Griffin
YOU are important! You have a unique purpose, that only you can fulfill. This post serves a gentle reminder that YOU matter! Don’t ever question that one tiny fact, YOU are very important!
I’ve laid out the facts below and I know that a wise person like yourself won’t be able to deny their truths. Life likes to measure the size of a person by seeing what kind of challenges they can tackle. Let those challenges serve as lessons, but don’t let them defeat you. Don’t let them make you think that you’re not good enough. No matter how hard things get, don’t lose sight of the reasons why you matter!
Sometimes it’s easy to lose sight of why you are important, It’s happened to me and I’m sure it’s happened to you. I am lucky because I get to spend my life teaching children. After a series of unfortunate events, I began living life with a rain cloud over my head. I went to work one day and had a student in class who I witnessed being disrespectful to his classroom teacher (I see all students in the building). I could tell he had really hurt her on an emotional level.
As a male role model I pulled him aside and said, “Casey, do you know that you hurt Mrs. Smith feelings by not listening to her?”. I could tell he understood, it seemed to bother him as well. I explained to Casey that I knew he was a great kid and was capable of making better decisions, I had seen it before. I talked to Casey about why we need to think about how our actions affect others and I could tell he was absorbing every word.
At the end of class, Casey ran up and gave me a big hug! At the end of the day Mrs. Smith came to pay me a visit with Casey at her side. She told me (with tears of joy) that Casey had apologized to her and told her how wonderful of a teacher she was. Casey had a great big smile on his face too. I reached down and gave him a high-five and said, “Look at that smile on her face buddy, YOU did that!”.
At that moment Casey, Mrs. Smith, and I were all reminded of our importance, that we can make a difference, no matter how small. The same is true for YOU, You are proving YOUR importance every day, you just might not always see it.
